Iron Fist Training and Fitness Dojo
"Forged in flame, stronger than steel"

The Iron Fist Training and Fitness Dojo is a training space owned by Fei Fong Wong near the edge of the Residential and Business districts. A reasonably large space due to generous backing from investors, it hosts a number of classes and training courses. Most in-demand among these are the special tutor skills offered by the employees, allowing Pokemon to learn attacks they might not otherwise have been able to master.

Current Employees
Fei Fong Wong (Master of Training)
Chie Satonaka (Master of Training)
Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear (Egg Master)
Yukiko Amagi (Master of Training)
Makoto Kino (Egg Master)

IC-Only Training Classes
Zumba with Fei's Snorlax

[OOC: The Iron Fist Training and Fitness Dojo allows characters to request Move Tutoring for their Pokemon. Due to the constraints of Move Tutoring, we ask that players not request more than one training a week to give others a chance to receive training they might want or need.

Each employee will have their own available training thread. When posting to a thread, you may, if desired, post it ICly in order to discuss the needed training or even haggle about pricing. If the thread meets the requirements (all IC, at least 3 comments from your character) it may be used to fulfill activity requirements for either character who participates in it.

The Iron Fist Training and Fitness also offers a number of classes that are only for IC purposes only. Any characters who wish to offer training classes may do so by signing up in the below thread. Characters are free to thread those classes as desired, and this can count toward activity so long as it meets the requirements listed above.]

Trainer

Name: Fei Fong Wong
Class: Blackbelt
Type: Fighting
Ability: Master of Training
Enlightened Level: 55

Pokémon Bonded: 9

Abilities: Fei is a Fighting type who will acquire the Fire typing upon his first evolution, although it won't be as prevalent in his overall style until his final evolution and will generally only manifest when he's really angry. He'll generally have access to his non-elemental deathblows as he progresses in level, and be able to use his ki for various effects such as adjusting his offensive and defensive abilities, launching balls of energy, and healing himself. As he levels up, he'll gain a few flashier abilities, typically the ability to generate and attack with flame, as well as sheathe himself in an aura of fire and use it to dramatically increase his acceleration. Appearance-wise he will generally remain normal, but upon second evolution if he's really angry his hair will turn a vibrant red color and flare out of the normally more controlled ponytail. This effect will remain more consistently at he reaches his final evolution, and will generally manifest more if he's drawing upon the flame powers than due to a particular emotional state.

Fei has the Master of Training enlightened ability.

CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Fei Fong Wong
Character Canon: Xenogears

History: Here.

AU History: Fei is originally from Caldera, where he was raised primarily by his mother, his father being a soldier and trainer who was often away. His mother was kind and loving, but the stress of the war and of his father's frequent absence drove her to alcoholism, which would in turn lead to abuse. Unfortunately, Fei's father wouldn't believe him, forcing the young boy to suffer in silence. When he was about ten, his mother was killed protecting him from a rampaging Pokemon. Fei himself never speaks of this instance and bears some deep scars which can be evidenced in some repressed anger.

After his mother's death, his father, finally realizing the depths of the issues, encouraged the boy to take up painting as a way to express his feelings. He also had him take part in martial arts training to further hone his fighting typing that he shared with his father. While Fei doesn't really like to fight, he does excel at it and has, somewhat unwillingly, been pushed into assisting the Earthkin with the war effort. He has generally been working with some friends and has taken part in a few special operations, which lead to his fated meeting with Elly, encountering her Gebler forces and being caught up in a piece of malfunctioning old technology that ended up killing a few civilians in the area. In spite of this, he ended up helping Elly escape and eventually return to the Gigas lines. However, their most recent counter was more decisive, confronting her as she was under the effects of the powerful DRIVE drugs he was able to bring her back to her senses. Knowing the danger of bringing her back to Caldera, he instead brought her to Union, and is considering making the move a bit more permanent.

Canon Personality: Fei's personality is constructed based on the Freudian concepts of Ego, Super Ego, and Id. In practice, the "Fei" personality is in fact the newest of the three. When Fei was little and his mother was taken over by the entity Miang, she subjected him to horrific experiments to draw out his potential as the Pure Contact. The pain and anguish, coupled with his father not believing his stories, caused him to create another personality, itself a consciousness on its own. The original Fei, now known as "the Coward" by this new personality, retreated to the deepest recesses of Fei's mind, replaying memories of happier times before his mother turned. In Freudian terms, the Coward represents "Ego".

The new personality, Id, would be the one to bear the brunt of the pain and anguish. This pain caused it to become embittered and violent. Id is a manifestation of pure fury. Violent, arrogant, and deeply homicidal he is almost a force of nature and terrorized the world for many years. In Freudian terms, Id, naturally, represents Id.

Eventually, however, Fei's father, Kahn Fong Wong, managed to catch up with him. Realizing what had occurred, Kahn defeated Id and sealed him with a third and final personality, Fei. Fei is the personality most often seen in the game, and while it's technically the third and weakest of the three, based on the flashbacks of past personalities it is fairly consistent with how he's always been, and the implication is if the Coward had been able to mature as normal he would probably be similar to Fei. In Freudian terms, Fei represents Superego.

Fei is at heart a gentle soul. He is a talented painter, and has the soul of an artist. While he is an accomplished martial artist, he dislikes violence and doesn't want to fight if he can avoid it. He seems reticent, even cowardly in conflict, but when riled he can be quite combative and argumentative, even in the throes of crushing depression. Earnest and hardworking, Fei just wants to live his life in peace and tranquility, though his fate is always anything but.

A constant theme of the early part of the game is Fei's struggles with his desire not to get involved and not to fight versus the crushing weight of responsibility. While he doesn't necessarily outwardly admit it, Fei understands on some deep level that he possesses the ability to make a difference. Invariably, inevitably, he will stand up and fight to protect those who are important to him. In many cases it isn't even a conscious decision, at the end of the day Fei must stand up and do the right thing.

That's not to say his good intentions are always rewarded. Fei can be quite brash, rushing in when cooler heads might advise otherwise. This can and has gotten him into trouble, most notably with the village of Lahan where he obliterated most of it and killed one of his close friends as well as many of the villagers after losing control and releasing Id's power.

When Fei is vulnerable or upset, he can lose control, with Id once again taking control. At its core, Fei has a great propensity for anger, rage, and bitterness, this is manifested in his earlier incarnation Lacan who ends up creating Grahf through the pain and bitterness of having lost Elly. Fei is the kind of person to struggle mightily to make a positive change, but when confronted with hopelessness or abject and complete failure, especially where the loss of Elly is concerned, his personality can become warped and twisted. Id is a perfect example of this, as is Grahf, a splinter of his predecessor Lacan's personality who is cold, calculating, and holds little regard for other humans (having indeed instigated a near genocide of the human race five centuries prior to the Xenogears storyline).

Near the end of the storyline, Fei brokers a resolution between himself, Id, and the Coward. When he emerges, he is the same, yet different. More self-assured and more whole, it represents Fei as a complete person. Through the wealth of experiences and friendships he forges in Xenogears, he gains confidence and determination. At the beginning of his journey, Fei is uncertain. By the end, he is resolute, having overcome his insecurities and cowardice and gained a willingness and drive to do what he must.

AU Deviation: The most notable is the complete exicision of the Id personality and the whole split personality/Freudian expression. Fei is Fei, although he does have some anger issues he will not transform into a psychopathic killing machine when provoked. As such he's considerably more well-adjusted and socialized, and his training and integration with a society as opposed to being an "outsider" means he's more willing to pitch in and help instead of running from a problem and saying it doesn't concern him.

Canon Abilities: As the pure contact and a member of the Xenogears setting, Fei has the ability to utilize powerful martial arts. At the height of his power, he can down a Gear, a giant humanoid mecha usually averaging about 16+ meters in height, with his bare hands. He additionally has the ability to manipulate his Chi to heal himself or utilize some offensive and utility abilities, as listed below.

Guided Shot: Energy ball comprised of Chi, a long-range attack.
Inner Healing: Focused Chi ability to heal himself or an ally.
Iron Valor: Focuses Chi to raise personal attack power
Counter Force: Focuses Chi to anticipate enemy attacks and counter incoming attacks.
Yang Power: Taps into the lighter side, raising defense and lowering attack.
Yin Power: Taps into the darker side, raising attack and lowering defense.
Radiance: Unleashes Chi dealing great damage to a single target.
Big Bang: A huge release of Chi that damages all enemies with tremendous force and halts their movement.

Additionally, he has a number of martial arts combos, known as Deathblows, that he can initiate and even chain together in the right circumstances. Some of his higher level abilities also inflict elemental damage, Fukei, Chikei, Kakei, Suikei, Kokei, and Yamikei dealing Wind, Earth, Fire, Water, Light and Dark damage respectively. A video of them can be found here: http://youtu.be/yL-_0Yo4ZMQ (first featured character)

Within him dwells Id, an older personality that possesses immense power. Id is capable of felling Gears with his bare hands and has an affinity for flame and fire-based powers. He is exceptionally powerful, he can utilize most of Fei's higher-level abilities.

Beyond that, however, Fei also possesses a powerful Gear. Known as the Slayer of God, Fei's Gear, Weltall, is like him a tall, slim bare-handed fighter. Weltall has three forms (as well as the bat-winged OR Weltall/Alpha Weltall/True Weltall that Grahf uses but is not relevant to this case.)

Weltall is the basic gear that Fei possesses. It is a gear with strong all-around abilities and some black box technology that is beyond the analysis of current technical ability. What is contained within those black boxes is the ability to transform into the far more potent Weltall-Id. Weltall-Id can respond to its master, Id, without being piloted. It's output and power is immense, able to lift an entire battleship into the air with telekinetic force, crush it, and throw it. When transforming into Weltall-Id, Weltall turns red and several of its plates flip around as seen here.

Weltall-2 is an upgraded version of Weltall, enhanced by nanomachines. It is not a true Omnigear, so it does not possess an Anima Relic (a large golden rectangular disc of immense power) attached to its back granting it power or a telepathic cockpit. However, it is just as powerful as any Omnigear, perhaps even more so. Weltall-2 is, in essence, all of the power of Weltall-Id without the drawbacks of Id getting out. When upgraded, Fei is given a Mental Stability Bracelet that controls Id through nanomachine enhancements. This allows him to, within Weltall-2, access System Id, as well as several of Id's personal abilities.

Examples of Weltall and Weltall-2 in combat can be seen here.

The Xenogear is the final stage in Weltall's evolution. It is not a true Omnigear either, but its power far exceeds that of the Omnigears, it is truly the ultimate weapon and the completed seat for the Slayer of God. It does retain Weltall-2's engine and still requires conventional fuel to operate, but it has otherworldly abilities such as enhancing all its regular attacks with energy beams. Because Fei attains completion when he gains the Xenogear, he loses the ability to access System Id but his combat capabilities at this point far exceed that of Id.

An example of the Xenogear in combat (as well as late-game plot events) can be seen here.

No matter the form, all Gears require fuel to operate. The kind of fuel is unspecified, but Gears can recharge fuel overtime

SAMPLES

Sample from having played him at Save the Earth

Answering 6 questions as well for the other half of the sample, answered as if Elly is asking him.

-What would you say the role of Pokémon is in your life?
Friends and companions, definitely. I know a lot of people like to use them for labor but that doesn't really feel right to me, I like working together with them as a team.

-What do you seek for humanity’s future?
[Said with a rather serious earnestness] An end to the fighting.

-To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness?
I think you know the answer to that one pretty well. [He smiles] I'll do whatever I have to.

-What do you look for in the Pokémon with whom you bond?
Pokemon I can really get along with and understand what I'm looking for. Being able to spar with me doesn't hurt either.

-What would you say is your greatest duty, and why?
I'm really not very sure. I just want to live peacefully and make sure those I care about are protected. I don't really know if that counts as a "duty".

-What area do you seek to explore? The peaceful forest, in search of new, previously overlooked discoveries; the uncharted caves, in search of the unknown; or the wildest of mountain terrain, in search of danger, adventure, and thrills?
The forest, definitely. I like it when things are a bit quiet, it's good for thinking.

Below are a few addendums, specifically some headcanon regarding the cycles and a synopsis on how important Elly is to Fei's existence.

Fei is the reincarnation of the only human to survive the disaster of the Eldridge, a ship bearing a colony of people and a powerful, sentient weapon, the entity known as Deus (As seen here). Fei, then known as Abel, was the only one to survive due to his contact with the Wave Existence, as outlined in Abel's profile. The Wave Existence created Elly to be his companion in an Adam and Eve sort of way.

Fei and Elly are intrinsically tied together as the Contact and Antibody, and have had a cyclical relationship where they will meet, fall in love, marry, in some cases, but in the end Elly will die urging Fei to live on. Fei is the fourth known incarnation, although there are major gaps between them (Between Abel and Elly it was 6,000 years before Kim and Elly, and then another 3,500 before Lacan and Elly, followed by another 5000 before Fei. Either the cycles get shorter or there were many incarnations throughout the 10,000 year history that were not touched upon, that Xenogears was considered to be episode 5 of a 6-part written work supports this, as there would have been 4 games before Fei, not 3, which means there would have potentially been at least 4 predecessors to Fei.

We are working under the assumption that Fei and Elly have had multiple iterations beyond the four listed here, but as there is a wealth of material in their first four lifetimes there will be no need to echo and extrapolate unless this game is going to last 20 years. It's just worth note. Additionally, there are no cycles between Lacan and Fei.

Reincarnated History: Born to Huan and Mei Lu, a family of first generation Chinese immigrants, Daniel was born into a relatively affluent business family. His father, a successful businessman who was able to win the family's immigration, brought his family to America for more opportunity and a better life. He owns a high-end clothing line and has easy access to Chinese labor giving him an advantage over his rivals. Typically, he treats his workers quite a bit better than most sweat shops, since his connections to China give him a cost advantage in other ways.

Daniel's mother, Mei, is a homemaker and suffers from some major mental issues. She was verbally and physically abusive to young Daniel, but due to his father's busy schedule and a certain deranged cunning on Mei's part, the abuse was not discovered until much later in life. Daniel suffered a lot of trauma, for which his father is profoundly guilty for and has done everything in his power to resolve.

Mei is currently institutionalized, having been sent there when Daniel was 15 after the abuse was finally discovered. Daniel decided to go to LCU to get away from his family and his home, of which there are many bad memories. His father is supporting him, so his tuition and board are paid. Daniel in turn is not really taking advantage of his father's support, he owns a bicycle but no car and he takes on odd jobs for spending money.

While growing up, Daniel's solace was painting and art, it was a way he could make sense of his unhappy home life and escape. As such, he is pursuing a degree in art, focusing on painting but also getting involved in graphic art and other disciplines that will make him attractive to marketing firms. His father steered him in the direction of a more practical art major, and privately intends to hire him for graphics and advertisement should Daniel have trouble finding work elsewhere.

First Echo: As described in Elly's app, while Fei is out jogging in the wooded area of campus at night, he runs into Elly, triggering an echo of their first meeting in their last incarnation.

Preincarnation Personality: Fei's personality is constructed based on the Freudian concepts of Ego, Super Ego, and Id. In practice, the "Fei" personality is in fact the newest of the three.

At the beginning of his journey, Fei is uncertain. By the end, he is resolute, having overcome his insecurities and cowardice and gained a willingness and drive to do what he must.

Any differences: While it is not necessarily an enormous difference, it is worth note that Daniel will be closer to his early game personality than his final end-game whole personality.

Although Daniel shares some of the same experiences as Fei before him, the severity is much less drastic. While Fei's anger gave birth to Id, in Daniel's case he has deep-seated anger issues that he suppresses. This doesn't often outwardly appear, but he has the capacity to lash out if pressed into a corner.

In normal life, Daniel is a bit of a fitness buff. He is heavily involved in the Judo club and rides his bike everywhere. He can often be seen jogging, training, and working out. Also a bit of an early bird, he tends to be up and about early. He definitely subscribes to the "early to bed early to rise" adage.

In canon, Fei definitely enjoys painting and art. As Daniel, he is much more engaged in the arts. Having decided to pursue a career in art, he is currently majoring in art at LCU. Because of the abuse he suffered, things such as exercise and especially art are extremely therapeutic to Daniel, it is one of the ways he deals with his past. His style tends to be realistic landscapes and portraits, and he has a tendency towards somewhat grim or stark landscapes that depict some of his feelings on his past. It's not necessarily entirely conscious, but art is extremely important to Fei and it keeps him grounded and makes him happy.

Daniel is definitely not a traditional art student. He loves art enough that he wants to make a career of it, so his studies are very much grounded in reality, technique, and viability in the job market. As such he is often at odds with the more... eccentric members of his department. Many of them accuse him of having no true artist soul - this isn't true at all, but Fei's expressions are deeply personal and he has little time or use for the convoluted artistic theory often found in art academia.

Abilities: As the pure contact and a member of the Xenogears setting, Fei has the ability to utilize powerful martial arts. Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Daniel's breathing was slightly labored as he jogged through campus in a light jacket. The cold air was crisp, bracing really, and the exercise was invigorating.

As he jogged toward lower campus he took a deep breath, taking in the smells. Then he made a face. He had arrived.

Opening the door, he walked into the art building, greeting his professor with a nod as he sat down.

"Today, we'll be reviewing your interpretations of modern expression!" the professor announced with breathy excitement. Daniel kept from outwardly groaning only with a severe exertion of mental fortitude. He'd been dreading this.

The professor wasted no time in picking his picture out. He thought he'd done a decent job fudging it, but his name was on it so he knew what was coming. As the teacher began on how the bold lines didn't agree with his softer shapes. Daniel felt the pull of gravity strongly, urging his face toward the cold, welcoming embrace of the table. This was going to be a long class period.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person the second:

"HAAA!"

With a loud kiai Daniel threw his opponent to the ground with one swift, smooth motion. There was some muted applause as he stepped back and offered his hand, helping the slightly bigger man back up to his feet.

"I was scared for a minute there," he said. "I thought you were gonna crush me."

"I thought I had you too," the other man agreed. "I got excited and threw myself off-balance."

The two shook hands as Daniel toweled his face off a bit and grabbed his water bottle. That had been a tough match, and he was a bit winded.

"Daniel Lu advances to the semi-finals," one of the announcers said.

Looking around, his eyes wandered to the brackets. And then they stopped and he nearly dropped his bottle at the sight of his next opponent. Known as the Thrasher, he was a senior last year and had dislocated Daniel's shoulder in their last match.

"Didn't he graduate?" he whispered to his sensei, a bit hoarsely.

"Nobody finishes college in four years, especially not lunkheads like that," his sensei replied with a wry grin.

Daniel's face hit his palm hard. So much for taking a collegiate judo title this year.

Roleplay Sample - Network: So I've been thinking, a lot people seem to really like just sitting at home and playing games or surfing the web. I guess there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but I noticed in the last battle that a lot of you guys are... well... a bit out of shape. Things have gotten pretty dangerous, and I don't want to see any one of you guys get hurt, so I want to help you all out.

I go jogging every morning at 6, it's a great way to keep in shape. I'm usually on LCU campus but if people need me to come a bit closer to have someone to pace with just let me know I'm happy to stop by. I also do some weight training every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I can recommend some gyms and help out there too. Let me know, we're all in this together so we definitely want to keep in shape!
